Gender in the global development agenda: tools for gender-sensitive planning and implementation

Gender equality and women’s empowerment are central to development and peace. The new aid effectiveness agenda must offer opportunities to strengthen action towards the MDGs and gender equality. The overall purpose of this online course is to create greater awareness of these opportunities and initiate further action at the national and the international levels.

Who should participate? Policy planners and programmers from governments, workers' organizations, employers' organizations, international organizations and NGOs.

Course admission requirements
- Fluency in written English
- Direct professional experience in development planning at policy, programme or project level
- Interest in issues related to development cooperation policies and programmes

Modular self-learning gender course
  

11 February - 14 June 2013

Translating global political commitment to gender equality into practice requires "gender transformative actions" at technical level, in policies, programmes, projects, training actions. Many organizations are interested in building the capacity of their staff to respond to these growing needs.

This course will provide them with the necessary tools for gender mainstreaming at any level or context.
This session of the course will be available in Guided Reading modality only. As a self-assisted participant (guided reader), you shall complete at your own pace each of the readings, activities and self-tests. You will self-assess your learning through an automatic feed-back system, without tutorial assistance.

This option requires approximately 5 study/hours per module and costs 400 Euros. Guided readers shall get a certificate of attendance.
